Welcome to Mount Isa Baptist Church

If you're not local, Mount Isa really is a long way from anything, and the thought of moving out this far can really be quite daunting. So, for many of us, church family really does become our family.

We are a family made up of a diverse group of people - young and old from across Australia and the world. We are linked together by the unifying power and presence of Christ. We come together as followers of Jesus seeking to share His message of hope to our community, our nation and to our world.

We hope that you too might be welcomed as family. We meet together for worship on Sunday Mornings at 9 AM.

What's it like at Mount Isa Baptist Church?

Our church is made up of ordinary people who trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins and the hope of new life. The city of Mount Isa is very transient, and therefore we often have people visiting, joining, and leaving on a regular basis. We endeavour to be a healthy church for the many people who pass through the town.

What happens during Sunday Worship?

Our services last no longer than an hour and a half. The service contains worship songs, Bible reading, prayer, and preaching. On the first and third Sundays of each month, we remember the Lord's death in communion. We regularly have mission spots to help us see what the Lord is doing outside of Mount Isa. We finish the service with morning tea.

What about my kids?

On Sunday Mornings and during the school term we host a Sunday School for children, who are in kindy to grade 6. The service leader will indicate when it is time for the children to leave for their age-specific Bible studies.

The Objectives of our Church according to our constitution are:

  • Impact the world with the Gospel.

  • Build up the body through the Word of God.

  • Promote family fellowship, unity and care.

  • Train Christians in Leadership; the exercising of their spiritual gifts; and the development of their God-given abilities.
